While you're there
Holidays around Clayton • It’s not the holidays without a good-old fashioned mall Santa, and St. Nick himself will be at the St. Louis Galleria and Plaza Frontenac every day throughout the season.
Small Business Saturday • Festivities will be in full swing in Clayton from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 24. The event will feature special promotions from local businesses, and fun activities for children including a chance to take a photo with a real reindeer.
Outdoor skating • Enjoy the Shaw Park Ice Rink for a discounted $3 (including skate rental) the evening of Dec. 7. There will also be hot chocolate, fireworks and Olaf the snowman from “Frozen”
Stop to eat • If you’re doing your shopping in the morning, pop into Vincent Van Doughnut to treat yourself to an enormous artisanal doughnut and coffee (vincentvandoughnut.com). The original pancake house in Ladue is a great place to stop for a bite during your shopping. The wait is always pretty long for a table, so you can get your name on the list and then head over to any of the shops next door while you wait for your name to be up (ophmo.com). If you’re looking to really sit down for a lunch break or reward yourself after a long day shopping, Sauce on the Side’s Clayton location is always reliable for a nice filling calzone (sauceontheside.com).
