The Major Case Squad was activated to investigate a shooting death in the 300 block of South Dellwood Avenue, police said. Ferguson police officers found Rashon Butler, 30, of St. Louis County, with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle when they were investigating an alert of gunshots. John M. Thompson, 33, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Ferguson Police Chief Jason Armstrong said in a news release that authorities believe it was a targeted attack.
