Samuel Valles-Rendon Jr., 29, of Berkeley, fatally shot in the chest and crashed his vehicle into a house, police said. Firefighters were called around 11:55 p.m. to the 600 block of Robert Avenue in the city's Carondelet neighborhood, where they found a vehicle had crashed into a home and a utility pole, police said. Valles-Rendon was in the vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. Investigators believe the incident started about a block away in the 7100 block of Alabama Avenue, though they provided few details about what led up to the crash.
