Police found a woman shot and killed in a vehicle in the Near North Riverfront neighborhood early August 8. Dasia Bowers, also known as Dasia Allen, 25, was found in the 2500 block of North Broadway, north of Benton Street, just after 1:20 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Four years later, police announced charges against three people. Jamont Ellis and Denzel Williams are charged with kidnapping, shooting and killing the woman Allen. Kristian Haughton helped steal her car and set it on fire, charges say. The incident started on March 30, 2022, charges say. Allen, 25, was driving home from buying diapers for her infant daughter. The trio in another car hit Allen's car, then got into it, armed with guns. About two hours later, her car was found set on fire. Nine days later, Allen's body was found in Cementland, an unfinished sculpture park in the northernmost part of St. Louis. Williams was killed in 2023; his charges will not be pursued. Ellis is in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
