Earl Jones Jr.

Officers were called around 7:30 a.m. Thursday to Winkler and Kappel drives, where a ShotSpotter gunshot-detection system picked up the sound of gunfire, police said. There they found Earl Jones Jr., 57, dead. Jones lived in the 10000 block of Dellridge Lane in Dellwood. Police later charged 21-year-old Max Jones, no relation to Earl Jones, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the case. Max Jones lives in an apartment in the 1300 block of Ferguson Avenue in Ferguson but also has an address on Gladys Avenue in Hazelwood. He was also charged in with the Sept. 29 murder of Emmett Austin, 43.
