Javion Bibby, 19, was shot and killed in Webster Groves after he and Ronnie Jewett, 18, tried to break into a car in the parking lot outside Hotshots Sports Bar & Grill off South Laclede Station Road. Webster Groves police said the car's owner, a man they identified as "R.B.", came to investigate, and Bibby charged him. Fearing for his safety, R.B. responded by shooting and killing Bibby. Jewett ran away into a nearby apartment complex, where he hid his own gun, police said. He was later arrested and admitted to working with Bibby in the attempted car theft and to hiding the gun, police said. St. Louis County prosecutors charged Jewett with second-degree “felony” murder in Bibby's death — saying he is liable for Bibby's death because he is accused of committing other felony offenses during the incident. Jewett was also charged with armed criminal action, attempted theft, and evidence tampering. St. Louis County prosecutors did not file charges against the shooter, R.B.
