Mario Mitchell

Police say a toddler was beaten to death on Saturday. Officers were called to a hospital just before 8 p.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of South 39th Street for 2-year-old Mario Mitchell, who was unresponsive with a bruised abdomen, police said. He died less than an hour later. Mitchell's cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma and homicide detectives are investigating, police said. Additional information was not immediately available.
