Markel J. Staples

CAHOKIA HEIGHTS— A 16-year-old boy was shot and killed here in an SUV on Thanksgiving Day. Officers said they found Markel J. Staples and another teen in an SUV on Thursday afternoon in the 300 block of Adele Avenue. They had both been shot. Staples was pronounced dead just before 4 p.m., St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said. Dye did not have information on the surviving victim. Cahokia Heights police did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
