A 16-year-old teen was shot and killed Sunday morning in rural Lincoln County, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. The identity of the teen, who was shot during a domestic disturbance, has not been released. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department said deputies were dispatched to Dodson Road near Troy on Sunday around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 caller reported a person being shot. At the scene, deputies found the body of the teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene. "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim. The loss of a young life is a tragedy, and we are committed to a thorough and transparent investigation to fully understand all the events as they transpired," Sheriff Rick Harrell said in a statement. Harrell said his department is also working closely with the Lincoln County coroner's office "to gather all the facts in this case." An autopsy will be performed, according to Lincoln County Sheriff's Department spokesperson Detective Alyssa Erson. Everyone involved in the shooting was taken to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department for interviews, according to the news release.
