Terron Vales

Terron Vales, 32, of Maplewood was shot Thursday evening in the 2200 block of Yale Avenue in Maplewood, police said. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Prosecutors charged Justin Christopher Vance, 18, with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and tampering with evidence in the case. Vance, of the 2000 block of Grecian Way Court in Town and Country, remains at large. According to court documents, Vance and "multiple co-conspirators" met with the victim, Vales, and demanded he pay them $400. When Vales refused to pay, one of the unidentified co-conspirators assaulted Vales with his hands. Vance then allegedly pulled a gun and shot Vales in the back. After the shooting, Vance ran off and hid the gun in a parking garage, according to the documents. Once Vance is in custody, a judge has ordered that he be held on $1 million bond.
