ST. LOUIS — Prosecutors charged a woman Sunday with fatally shooting another woman after a fight in north St. Louis. Marissa Lewis, 28, told police she acted in self-defense when she fatally shot 26-year-old Brittany Richie on Sunday in the 2900 block of Thomas Street, according to court documents. Authorities said the two were fighting when Lewis pulled out a gun and shot Richie in the thigh. Another friend, who police believe started the initial argument, fled the scene, police said in court documents. Police said witnesses at the scene did not corroborate Lewis' self-defense claim. Lewis was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. She is being held without bond in the St. Louis jail.
