Two East St. Louis residents — Damon Lawson, 26, and Darrien Abrams, 20 — were identified by police Wednesday as the men killed in a shootout Sunday night near the Dome at America's Center downtown. Lawson died at the scene and Abrams was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said. Three other people were shot in the incident, which occurred about 10 p.m. in the area of Eighth and Carr streets in the Columbus Square neighborhood. Two were hospitalized — a man, 25, who police said was in critical and unstable condition, and a man, 26, who was in stable condition. Police said a 24-year-old woman with a graze wound refused medical treatment. Investigators recovered numerous shell casings from the expansive crime scene, a police spokesman said.
