Donte Bailey

A Jennings man is accused of killing his robbery accomplice and fleeing from police with an AR-style semiautomatic shotgun after hiding in an impounded vehicle in North County this week. Daimon Patrick on Tuesday was recorded on Ring doorbell camera footage with Donte Bailey, a 26-year-old Ferguson man. The two were donning masks and changing their clothes near 4307 Beachwood Ave. in a residential area of Pine Lawn, a North County Police Cooperative officer wrote in court documents. Police said they also recovered audio of someone saying "Take the money" and the sound of gunfire. Patrick, who is in his mid-twenties, is then seen on camera leaving in the Hyundai Elantra that they had arrived in, police said. He had an AR-style gun with him. Bailey was found dead at the scene of the gunfire still wearing a mask and surrounded by two types of shell casings, investigators reported. He also had an unidentified type of gun. Two women drove to the scene of the shooting in the Hyundai before police arrived, police wrote. Officers arrested the women, and the Hyundai was towed. When the Hyundai got to the tow lot, police said Patrick jumped out of the car with the automatic rifle. He ran away and ditched the gun. Officers eventually found him and arrested him. He was booked into the St. Louis County jail just before midnight Tuesday and is being held on a $1 million cash-only bond. Police did not detail how Patrick was able to successfully hide in an impounded car or how he was eventually caught. He is now charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery, armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence. Police have not identified the victim of the original robbery. Patrick does not appear to have a criminal history in Missouri, according to online records.
