ST. LOUIS — Police on Saturday identified a man fatally shot days earlier while breaking into a historic Masonic Lodge. Geanard Howard, 48, of St. Louis was killed shortly before 4 a.m. Feb. 22 by an occupant of the Tuscan Masonic Lodge at 5015 Westminster Place, police said. Howard was found with a puncture wound on a bathroom floor of the building and pronounced dead at the scene. The shooter, a 37 year-old man, told officers he had been woken up by the building's security alarm before he picked up a gun, searched the building and shot the man, police said. Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call detectives at 314-44-5371. The Lodge, at the corner of Westminster and Kingshighway in St. Louis' Central West End neighborhood, is a historic two-story building used by the Freemasons’ Tuscan Lodge No. 360, a local chapter of the Freemasons fraternal organization.
