Gerardo Perez, 15, was shot and killed at an illegal car meet, known as a "slide show," in Bridgeton when more than 100 cars blocked the roadway near Highway 141 and Corporate Woods Drive. Police responded to a complaint of multiple cars driving recklessly. When they arrived, gunshots rang out. Gerardo was shot in the head and died a few days later. He was in the back seat of a truck when prosecutors say Garron Stevenson, 19, opened fire from a red Hyundai. Police said Thursday that five others were injured, including three others in the truck in which Gerardo was riding. But the slide show didn’t end when police broke it up. It just moved a few miles away to a lot in unincorporated north St. Louis County. Illegal activity continued there, said Sgt. Tracy Panus, spokesperson for St. Louis County police. Investigators with the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, Bridgeton Police Department, ATF and U.S. Marshals said they are still investigating the incident and asked the public to provide more information about the slide show this past weekend. But police declined to disclose what information they were looking for and whether others could face charges. When police interviewed Stevenson, he admitted to firing an AR-15 eight times, according to charging documents. A police dog with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms found the weapon hidden in a wall in Stevenson’s basement, authorities said. He was charged with second-degree murder, three counts of assault, three counts of armed criminal action and one count of unlawful use of a weapon in the shooting. A 17-year-old was also charged in juvenile court with second-degree murder.
