A 15-year-old boy has died weeks after he was shot while trying to rob someone in St. Louis, police say. The boy was identified Wednesday as Givonni Diaz. Police said he died Tuesday morning of injuries he suffered while trying to rob someone 17 days earlier. Diaz lived in the 10200 block of Castle Drive in north St. Louis County. Diaz was shot shortly before 1:30 a.m. July 20 near Russell Boulevard and South Ninth Street in the Soulard neighborhood. Police say he and three others had tried to rob two men in a car. Diaz was shot in the chest. Three people in a white vehicle dropped him off at a hospital, then left before police arrived. St. Louis police said Wednesday that they have classified the death of Diaz as a justifiable homicide. Police are still searching for his three accomplices in the robbery.
