Two men were shot on the city’s northwest side Saturday evening, and one of them died after trying to drive himself to the hospital. Police said officers responded shortly after 6 p.m. to a shooting in the 2400 block of Union Boulevard, on the border between the Kingsway West and Wells-Goodfellow neighborhoods, where they were told that the victims had left the scene to go to the hospital. One of them, a 33-year-old man, was driven to the hospital and survived. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his buttocks and listed in stable condition. But a 39-year-old man who had been shot in the leg was driving himself when he crashed into a building in the 1500 block of Union. An ambulance responded and carried him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A homicide investigation is ongoing.
