Kiya Holt-Biggs

Police on Wednesday were seeking a St. Louis man accused of killing his girlfriend and setting her body on fire in the city's Baden neighborhood. The man, Zaveon Alexander Mills, 21, of St. Louis, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Kiya Holt-Biggs, 21, of Granite City. Court documents say surveillance footage shows Mills removing the victim from the trunk of a car he drove on Saturday onto an empty lot in the 1200 block of Switzer Avenue, then slitting her throat and driving away. About an hour later, court records say, Mills is seen reapproaching the body on foot. He then used an aerosol as an accelerant to light the body on fire before leaving the scene. Court records said Mills later went to a home in Illinois and was in possession of bags containing the victim's purse, wallet, identification and bloody clothes. He told a witness there he was leaving town, authorities said. Police said Mills is considered armed and dangerous. Members of the victim's family and others said the defendant had been abusive. A woman in St. Charles County has an active order of protection against Mills, court records said. Police were called to the scene on Switzer about 8:30 p.m. Saturday and found the victim unconscious, not breathing and set on fire. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
