Michael Gist

Michael Gist, 36, died at a hospital two days after he and a woman were shot in the 7400 block of West Florissant Avenue in Country Club Hills. Country Club Hills police were called just before 5 p.m. Dec. 5 to the shooting and found the two people suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman was shot in the hand. Gist was shot in the head and died at a hospital on Dec. 7. Gist lived in the the 5700 block of Floy Avenue in the Walnut Park West neighborhood of St. Louis, police said. Authorities charged Elijah Graham, 21, with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. After he was arrested, Graham told officers the witness flashed a gun and fired at Graham first — but then, after he was told there were audio and video recordings of the shooting, admitted to firing first.
