A woman and her 11-year-old niece were killed inside their Berkeley home one week after a man's mother told police he had been making threats toward them. Police said the girl's mother called police at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday and told officers her the 11-year-old had just called her to say she had been stabbed, court documents said. Officers arrived at the home in the 8300 block of Redfir Drive and found 28-year-old Lawrente' O'Cain, who was covered in blood and had cut wounds on his hands. Inside the home they found a 53-year-old woman dead in the living room of the home, and an 11-year-old girl dead inside a bedroom. Both had been stabbed multiple times, court documents said. Three knives were found near the victims. O'Cain's mother had gone to police June 8 and told officers her son was making threats toward her and the girl, police wrote in court documents. O'Cain was arrested at the scene, police said. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. He's in custody at the St. Louis County Justice Center with no bond, police said.
