A daycare owner here was charged on Wednesday in the death of an infant at her facility, which police said was operating without a state license. Judy Fields was charged with endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death. Florissant police said she was in custody Wednesday on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Officers said they were called to Fields' daycare, at 235 Du Bourg Lane, on Tuesday. A 4-month-old infant boy was found unresponsive. The baby was taken to Christian Northwest Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Fields was watching 16 children by herself, police said. The medical examiner said the child died from asphyxia because of the way his body was positioned.
