A man died and a woman was injured in a shooting Thursday afternoon in the city's Gate District. Police said the incident happened about 12:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of Rutger Street. Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the 26-year-old man was pronounced dead and the 25-year-old woman was in critical condition. Homicide detectives will be investigating, police said.
