Jeremy Macklin, 23, faces two charges of first-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful possession of a gun. Police said they were called Monday morning to a home in the 6100 block of Garesche Avenue in the Walnut Park West neighborhood. The caller told police that one of the men who lived there was not answering his phone. Peering inside the house, officers wrote in charging documents, they could see Macklin's 44-year-old brother face down on the floor of a bedroom. Once inside, they found Macklin's 63-year-old father shot dead in another room, police said. Macklin was arrested at the home when police responded, charging documents say. He told police after his arrest that he had gotten into an argument with his brother because his brother refused to give Macklin a ride to his girlfriend's house. That's when he shot his brother, police wrote in court documents. Macklin told police that he then went into his father's room and shot him as well. After shooting his father, Macklin said he heard his brother was still alive, police wrote. He had ran out of ammunition and found a different gun in the home. Macklin told police he then shot his brother again. When officers responded, Macklin told them he had shot them days prior to the wellness call made to police. "When asked why he was still in the residence, (Macklin) told police he expected to be apprehended in the case," police wrote in charging documents. Authorities have not released the victims' names. Police said Macklin was recently released from parole after serving time for a second-degree child molestation conviction in St. Louis County. He was sentenced to five years in prison for the crime, court records say.
