A man was charged with the stabbing death of a 63-year-old man in the southwest St. Louis County home they lived in, police said. Bryan Scott Lovering, 39, faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Robert Schmedake. Police said they found Schmedake's body about 1:10 p.m. Tuesday in the home, in the 1400 block of Cedar Bluff Drive, after they were asked by Schmedake's employer to check on his welfare. Police said Lovering was at the home when officers arrived and that he admitted to the killing. Police said it appeared that the victim suffered multiple puncture wounds from what they described asan edged weapon. Police said it appeared that the wounds had occurred several days earlier. The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, police said. An autopsy revealed that some wounds were inflicted after the man died, police said. A police spokeswoman said police do not know the nature of the two men's relationship. The home is in an unincorporated area west of Valley Park.
