The St. Clair County coroner released new details Monday in the Belleville case of a woman and young girl who died after a man rammed his car into their duplex, causing the duplex to catch fire. Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said Shavonne S. Green, 35, died of trauma and burns Sunday morning at a home in the 100 block of South Eighth Street. The girl, 4-year-old Toriana Bohanna, died in the fire, Dye said. Dye released their names and causes of death Monday; he said both were pronounced dead at the scene. Toriana would have turned 5 years old this week. Officers arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. A boy was rescued. The bodies of Green and Toriana were discovered once the fire was put out. Belleville police arrested Matthew K. Thomas in connection with the incident after a manhunt. Police said Thomas "intentionally" drove into the home shortly after 9 a.m. Sunday but officers did not release a potential motive. The case is being handled as a double homicide.
