Stephen Monigan

Police are investigating the shooting death of a man in Cahokia Heights. Stephen Monigan, 68, of Cahokia Heights, died Wednesday in the 2000 block of Maple Tree Lane, said St. Clair County coroner Calvin Dye Sr. Monigan was pronounced dead at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dye said. Monigan lived on Maple Tree Lane where the killing happened, the coroner said. The Cahokia Heights police chief, Steve Brown, was not available Thursday. The commander of the Major Case Squad did not return a message seeking comment. Monigan is the eighth homicide victim this year in Cahokia Heights, a city of about 17,000 residents, according to the Belleville News-Democrat.
