St. Louis County police have identified the two teens who were found dead earlier this week from a suspected murder-suicide. Police identified 16-year-old Mason McMahan of High Ridge as the person found shot to death in a field in Olivette Monday. Teriq Lewis-Rushing, 18, of St. Louis was the teen found in an apartment complex nearby early Monday. Olivette police were called to the shooting scene at the field about 12:50 a.m. and heard a gunshot when they pulled up. Authorities believe it came from a self-inflicted gunshot fired by the McMahan. Police said a handgun was recovered at the scene next to McMahan. Police, thinking they were under fire, sent an "officer in need of aid" alert, authorities said. Officers from other agencies rushed to the scene. No officers were hurt. There is no indication that Olivette police fired any shots, said St. Louis County police Sgt. Tracy Panus. They searched the area and found the two young men dead. A preliminary investigation led investigators to believe McMahan shot Lewis-Rushing in an apartment after an argument. He then left the building and proceeded into a nearby field on Olive Boulevard. Olivette police asked St. Louis County to investigate the deaths.
