Terrell Peete

Terrell Peete, 19, of St. Louis, was killed and two others injured in a triple shooting in a parking lot near the St. Charles Convention Center after Peete stole a gun and tried to drive away with it, according to charging documents. Prosecutors charged both Gabriel Patterson -- the man from whom the gun was stolen -- and one of the shooting victims, Keonta Hardin, with second-degree murder in Peete's killing. Peete's group and Patterson's group had arranged to exchange guns, but Peete's group instead drove off after Patterson handed his gun over, according to charging documents. Patterson admitted to shooting the car multiple times. Peete was the driver. Hardin was in the back seat of Peete's vehicle and took the gun from Patterson. Hardin was shot in the arm but was released to police after being treated at a hospital. No information was available Thursday about the third victim, whom authorities say was shot multiple times in the back. Police responded to a parking lot outside the St. Charles convention center around 8 p.m. Wednesday for the shooting call. They arrested Patterson after witnesses pointed police to a nearby home where he and another person had fled. Surveillance footage also captured the shooting.
