St. Louis police have identified the young man found dead this week in Carondelet Lions Park as a 19-year-old from St. Louis County. Police called to the park for a shooting found the body of Travion Ferguson about 5 p.m. Monday. The park is in the 300 block of Davis Street. Ferguson had been shot in the head, police said. Police spokesperson Evita Caldwell said on Wednesday that Ferguson's death had not yet been classified as a homicide. But homicide detectives are handling the investigation, she said, as they wait for results from the medical examiner's office. Authorities released Ferguson's name Wednesday. He lived in the 10000 block of Green Valley Drive near the Dellwood area of St. Louis County. The 1.7-acre park is in the city's Patch neighborhood in far south St. Louis.
