HAZELWOOD — A man on Saturday was charged with murder after police say he tracked his girlfriend's phone location and shot the man she was in bed with. Bryce Ellis found his girlfriend in a Hazelwood home in the 200 block of Connolly Drive at about 5 a.m. Saturday, police said in charging documents. While there, police said he broke into the home and confronted his girlfriend, who was in bed with Treon Jones, 18. The two men struggled and then Ellis pulled out a gun. Ellis's girlfriend ran from the room and she later told police she heard three shots after she left. Police said two shots hit Jones and another struck the bed. Detectives said Ellis's cell phone put him at the home for about five minutes. The woman and Ellis then took a rideshare to Ellis's mother's home, charging documents said. But his mother kicked them out when she learned what had happened. Ellis then went to his home in East St. Louis, police said. Police wrote that Ellis's girlfriend told her mother what happened and her mother called police at about 8 a.m. from out of state to report the shooting. Officers found Jones shot dead in his bedroom. Ellis is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and first-degree burglary.
