A man died after his brother shot him while they were fighting outside a home in Overland, charges say. Overland police said they were called to the 9000 Block of Seneca Lane at about 4 p.m. Monday for a shooting outside the brothers' home. Officers found Brion Carter's brother, 30-year-old Brandon Carter, lying on the ground near a driveway. The charges against Brion Carter say the two brothers were arguing inside the house when the fight became physical. Brion Carter grabbed an assault-style rifle and told his brother to come outside, the charges say. Outside, he told his brother that if he swung at him one more time, he'd kill him, police wrote in court documents. Brandon Carter swung and missed. That's when Brion Carter shot him once in the chest at close range, police wrote. He was pronounced dead at a hospital and Brion Carter was arrested. Brion Carter, 26, was charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He was in custody on a $250,000 cash-only bond, according to online records.
