St. Louis County prosecutors on Saturday charged a man in the fatal shooting of his brother at their home in the 1200 block of Laire Avenue in Bellefontaine Neighbors. Tyrone Johnson, 28, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Friday night death of Gerrick Fortenberry, 30, St. Louis County police said. The brothers had been arguing throughout the day over financial matters, according to a probable cause statement. One witness saw Fortenberry go outside, then heard gunshots. Witnesses saw Fortenberry on the ground, unconscious and bleeding, and Johnson get in a Dodge Charter and leave the area. Fortenberry was taken to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries, officials said. Police located Johnson about an hour after the shooting.
