Jacob Volkert

Caleb Murphy, 25, is facing first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges. Murphy lived with Jacob Volkert, 25, in a house in the 4300 block of Eminence Boulevard, court documents said. On Sunday, Volkert would not leave Murphy's room, Berkeley police wrote, so Murphy shot him while he was standing in the doorway. Murphy said Volkert "was not armed and didn't threaten him but just would not get out of his room," an officer wrote in court charges.
