Karen Pautler, 75, was shot to death by her husband, police say. Kenneth Pautler, 73, told police he killed his wife because she was suffering from mental health issues and he had become "exhausted" caring for her, but didn't want her to die in a nursing home. Paulter said he thought it would be more "humane" to shoot her rather than have her die in a nursing home, according to a probable cause statement.
