Mattison Johnson

A suspect was criminally charged in the fatal shooting Friday of a 16-year-old girl in the College Hill neighborhood of north St. Louis. St. Louis prosecutors on Saturday charged Mary Cornelius, 18, with involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action in the death of the victim. Police were called about 2 p.m. to the 1400 block of East Grand Boulevard, just west of Interstate 70. Police identified the victim as 16-year-old Mattison Johnson of the 1400 block of East Grand Boulevard. Cornelius, who knew the victim, was interviewed by police at the scene and allegedly admitted to holding the gun when it fired. Police have described the shooting as accidental.
