Maurice Beckton

Officers were called to a shooting at 4446 Eminence Blvd., court records say. They found Maurice Beckton, 33, who had been shot in the head and was pronounced dead a the scene. Aaron Quinn, 18, of St. Louis County, was charged with second-degree murder, attempted robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. A judge signed off on a $1 million cash-only bond. Witnesses told investigators that Quinn had been talking to a man he knew about purchasing the man's 2011 White Dodge Challenger, court records say. While looking at the title of the vehicle, Quinn pointed a gun at the car's owner and two other people who were there. He demanded the title and car keys, police wrote. Around that time, witnesses told police that the shooting victim came around the house with another unknown suspect, both of whom were armed, police said. The Challenger's owner fled while Quinn, the shooting victim and the other suspect fired at him as he was running down Eminence, police wrote in court records. The car owner returned fire and struck the victim in the head. Quinn and the other unknown suspect continued to fire at the car owner, who was able to escape. At that time, police said Quinn and the other man pointed their guns at the other two people who had been there with the car owner. The two then fled in their car, police wrote. The car owner and several witnesses identified Quinn in a photo lineup, investigators wrote.
