Rita Williams

Rita Williams, 36, was driving with her friends when she got into an argument with one of them. Williams was in the front passenger seat and began arguing, and when she turned to the backseat, was shot in the head. She died at a QuikTrip gas station near the Grove commercial district. Williams was unarmed, according to court documents. Bessie Thomas, Williams' longtime friend and roommate, was charged with first-degree murder. She also faces charges of armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon.
