Robyn Jones, 44, invited Freddie Lee Sawyer into her home in the 4400 block of Minnesota Avenue, police said. They were downstairs in the kitchen listening to music, and Sawyer shot her in the back of the head, killing her, St. Louis police Detective Alphonso Hogan said in court documents Tuesday. Jones died at the scene. Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the attack. Sawyer, 32, was already on probation for crimes involving drugs, weapons and resisting arrest in February in the city. After the shooting, Sawyer went upstairs, struck another woman in the face repeatedly and raped her at gunpoint while two children, ages 5 and 16, were nearby, police said. He threatened to kill her if she made a noise, police said. He left the home, but returned a short time later, kicked in the door and took the cell phone of the woman he had sexually assaulted, police said. Police were notified about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Police spokesman Mitch McCoy refused to release the age of the second victim, except to say she was not a juvenile. That woman and another witness in the home identified Sawyer in a police lineup, Hogan said in court documents. Cell phone tracking also put him at the home at the time of the crimes, Hogan said. Prosecutors charged Sawyer with first-degree murder, rape, sodomy, property damage, unlawful possession of a firearm and three counts of armed criminal action.
