A Florissant man died about a week after he was shot in the Downtown West neighborhood. Police said Craig Goudeau, 30, of Florissant, died July 6 at a hospital from injuries about a week after he was shot. Leon D. Nelson, 30, of the 5500 block of Eagle Valley Drive, is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the case. A probable cause statement said Nelson, about 2 a.m. on June 28, tried to get into a nightclub in the 1900 block of Locust Street, but stopped to talk with Goudeau, whom he knew. The statement said Nelson "was agitated" after he told Goudeau about issues Nelson had with Goudeau's family member. As the two talked, Nelson drew his gun, holding it by his side, police said. Nelson then shot the victim "without provocation" and fled, the statement said. Surveillance video captured the shooting, police said.
