Police said officers responded to a shooting on the 4200 block of Michigan Avenue around 2 p.m. The man died, and homicide detectives are investigating. Demetrius Buchanan, 45, was charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of a man Sunday afternoon in his apartment in the 4200 block of Michigan Avenue. Buchanan, of the 4500 block of Adkins Avenue, also was charged with attempted robbery and armed criminal action in the case. According to court records, Buchanan is accused of trying to steal a safe owned by the victim.
