Marijon Ludwig

A woman was found dead Saturday in a Fenton home, and by Sunday morning, the man believed to be responsible for her death had died by suicide, following an overnight standoff with authorities at a Festus hotel. Billy Moman, 69, had previously served time for murder in a Minnesota prison, the sheriff's office said in an afternoon release. Moman shot himself and was found dead inside a hotel room, the sheriff's office said. Moman is suspected of the murder of 46-year-old Marijon Ludwig, whose body was found stabbed and shot on Saturday afternoon at a home on the 2600 block of Winding Valley Drive in a rual area south of Fenton. Moman and Ludwig knew each other, but the nature of their relationship "is unclear at this time," the sheriff's office said. Detectives tracked Moman to the Festus hotel Saturday evening, where sheriff's office teams evacuated guests and employees before trying several approaches to take him into custody. But Moman refused to exit his hotel room, and SWAT officers eventually discovered his body with the use of a drone. During the SWAT "callout," no shots were fired by officers, and nobody else was hurt, the sheriff's office said.
