A man was chased form a gas station in Soulard and fatally shot, authorities said. The shooting was April 3 at a gas station at 710 Russell Boulevard. The 21-year-old victim, Lamarr Box Jr., drove from the gas station after being shot and was found a few blocks away in a car that crashed at Broadway and Lami Street. Box, of East St. Louis, died at St. Louis University Hospital. St. Louis prosecutors charged Jabril L Olivaria, 24, with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. St. Louis police Detective Alphonso Hogan said in court documents that detectives found 50 fired cartridges on the gas station's parking lot and inside the store. There had been a gunfight inside the store, and Box ran from the store and got into the Audi Q7 he had arrived in, Hogan said. Olivaria wasn't in the store during the gunfight, Hogan said, but Olivaria saw Box run from the store. Olivaria chased him and fired several shots as Box drove away, police said. Two other people were injured during the shootout but survived. They are two men, ages 26 and 29, who had been dropped off at a hospital. The charges filed Thursday against Olivaria do not include assault for those victims.
