Authorities were called to a shooting just before 11:30 p.m. Thursday to the 5300 block of Ashland Avenue near Union Boulevard. There, in an apartment doorway, officers found a 44-year-old man who had been critically injured. He was taken to a hospital where he died a short time later, police posted on X.
