Ronald Milton

Ronald "Big Ron" Milton would wake long before sunrise to prep the soul food he hawked from his black-and-red food truck on "Sold-Out Sundays." He was famous for oxtail plates and turkey leg dinners. Milton, 41, was a natural cook and salesman, his family says. He learned how to cook as a boy from his grandmother, then spent Fridays and Sundays selling food on a parking lot in front of a shuttered IHOP in Ferguson. Milton was killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday evening at his food truck, at 10910 New Halls Ferry Road. A gunman fired shots from a moving car at a crowd gathered near the truck, then drove off. Milton died at a hospital; two women were hit, too, but didn't die. Ferguson police asked St. Louis County detectives to take over the investigation. On Tuesday, police said they had made no arrests in the killing. They did not provide a description of the killer or the killer's getaway car. Milton was the father of six children, the youngest two in high school. Milton lived in unincorporated north St. Louis County. His longtime fiancée declined to speak to a reporter.
