Shirley Johnson was fatally shot after a relative backed into another man's car in the 5100 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue in the Kingsway West neighborhood. Jamal A. Jones, 32, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and other crimes in the incident, which took place in the 5100 block of Cote Brilliante Avenue in the Kingsway West neighborhood. Jones, who was being held Thursday in the city jail without bond, lives in the same block, court records said. According to a probable cause statement, the victim, 55, was a passenger in a car that hit Jones' car. The probable cause statement said Jones told police he had fired a shot to intimidate the driver so he wouldn't strike Jones' car again. The victim's name has not been released. The victim's relative told police he heard a loud noise from outside, got out of the car and offered to pay for any damage before realizing that his passenger had been shot.
