Trevion Poplar

A woman discovered dead in a car stopped by police on the McKinley Bridge was one of two people killed in a Carr Square neighborhood shooting. Police said 21-year-old Bonita Scott of St. Louis was fatally shot Friday at 1505 Preservation Place. The second victim, Trevion Poplar, 27, of St. Louis died at a hospital. Meanwhile, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office has charged a man with eluding police after the shooting. Dairyon Lloyd Walls, 19, is charged with resisting arrest/felony fleeing. No other charges have been filed. St. Louis homicide detectives are still investigating the case. The shooting on Preservation Place followed a fight between two groups, police said. Three men were shot but survived. Shortly after the shooting, a police helicopter saw a white Buick Enclave leaving the scene and driving erratically near 16th Street and Preservation Place, St. Louis police Detective Matthew Boettigheimer said in court documents. Police tracked the car into Old North St. Louis and chased it onto the McKinley Bridge. The Buick that came to a stop on the bridge after pursuing officers deployed a spike strip, Boettigheimer said. The dead woman, Scott, was discovered shot in the backseat. Police arrested two men in the car, including Walls, who was driving, Boettigheimer said. Police spell Walls' first name Dariyion.
