Kaslik Mediterranean Cuisine

The menu at Kaslik Mediterranean Cuisine follows the same template that you’ll find at most other Middle Eastern restaurants in St. Louis, but owner Wasem Hamed and his team turn out memorable versions of such familiar dishes as hummus, beef shawarma and shish taouk. Lamb, either as chops or skewered in shish kebabs, is a highlight, but I keep coming back to the beef shawarma, terrific on its own and even better in a pita sandwich with various pickles, onion, tomato and tahini sauce. I also keep returning to Kaslik’s mezze, especially makdous, cold baby eggplant stuffed with walnuts, garlic and olive oil.

Hours: Lunch and dinner daily

Opened: 2013

Must order: Beef shawarma (sandwich $5.99, plate $8.99)
