ST. LOUIS — Authorities charged a Dutchtown man on Thursday with shooting and killing 31-year-old Malcolm Brown this week. Robyn Simmons, 32, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. He was arrested Wednesday evening and remained in custody Friday morning, according to court records. Investigators said Simmons went with a woman to her home around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday to help her break up with her boyfriend, Brown, who also lived at the home in the 3200 block of North Dakota Street in the city's Dutchtown neighborhood. The woman had been locked her out of the house, so Simmons kicked in the front door, police said. Brown was sleeping on the second floor, police wrote in court documents. She woke him up and told him to leave. While the two were arguing, investigators wrote, Simmons struck Brown with a gun and then shot him while he was lying on the ground. Simmons ran from the house but later returned to get the shell casing, police said. Brown died at the scene of the shooting, police said.
