Markell Byrd

A St. Louis man was shot to death near Fairground Park on Monday night. Markell Byrd was found dead in the 3700 block of Kossuth Avenue about 10:40 p.m. Monday, authorities said. Byrd, 30, lived in the 5400 block of St. Louis Avenue. Police were alerted to the shooting by the ShotSpotter gunshot-detection system. They found Byrd on the sidewalk. He died at the scene. Homicide detectives are handling the investigation. Police said a man is the suspected killer but they don't know who he is.
