MOLINE ACRES — Police on Tuesday identified the man who was found shot dead inside a car that had crashed into a tree this weekend. Police said they were called about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday to the 9900 block of Lanier Drive for a ShotSpotter activation. They found 29-year-old Tremain Purnell inside a car that had crashed into a tree, police said. He had been shot multiple times. Purnell was pronounced dead at the scene. Moline Acres police requested St. Louis County take over the investigation. Purnell lived in the 11900 block of Sagunto Court in Spanish Lake, police said.
